The waters of Woodbine Beach.

One person has died in hospital after a boat crashed into the rocks about 75 metres off the shore of Woodbine Beach this afternoon.

According to paramedics, five people were injured and one person was rushed to the hospital in life-threatening condition, later being pronounced dead.

Emergency crews, including the marine unit, were called to the scene around 12:30 p.m.

Paramedics assessed five people on the scene and rushed the critically injured person to the hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

According to police it is unclear if the boaters were wearing lifejackets at the time of the crash.

Investigators speculate that it is possible some of the victims were thrown off the boat during the crash and hit the rocks which caused their injuries.
