Emergency crews respond to a gas leak in The Beach

A gas leak was reported to emergency services at 48 Waverley Road around 12 p.m. this afternoon.


Construction workers at the address reportedly hit a gas line, confirmed by TPS officers and Toronto fire services on the scene.

Emergency crews arrived on the scene quickly and blocked off Waverley Road between Queen Street East and Kew Beach while the situation was assessed and dealt with.


Enbridge arrived at 12:20 p.m. and capped the line.


Firefighters on the scene recommended the neighbours to air out their homes due to lingering fumes from the leak.
