A Markham man has been arrested and charged in connection to a fatal boat collision that happened earlier this month following an investigation by Toronto Police Traffic Services.

Forty-six-year-old Thamilagan Olivernicholas has been charged with criminal negligence causing death and two counts of criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

Olivernicholas was operating the boat when it crashed onto the rocks around 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 3.

The crash resulted in the death of a 47-year-old man, serious injuries for two others, and minor injuries for the remaining four passengers, including the accused.

Olivernicholas is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 4.
